The brief
Archistar packs a lot of valuable property tools into one product, and it had become confusing. It also serves very different people:
- Small developers looking for a site for a duplex
- Large development companies putting hundreds of apartments on a site
- People focused on the financials
- Engineers and architects generating building designs
Its 3D building generation was unique technology, so there were few established patterns to lean on.
My role
I led the redesign of the platform on my own, along with the design of many new features.
What I designed
Finding sites with development potential
Search and filters help developers find sites in zones where they could build more, with each site’s land use and planning details a click away.
Generating buildings that meet council rules
The 3D generator creates building designs that meet council requirements for a site, then checks them for compliance with analysis of sunlight, shadow and airflow.
Knowing whether a project stacks up
Feasibility assessments and a calculator show whether a project is worth pursuing, backed by market data on prices and development activity.
